Hyperlinks 

When adding a hyperlink in the 'Body' field of a 'Basic Page' editing window, there are four different types of links to choose from. Each is described below.

URL: Link to a separate internal or external webpage.

Link to anchor in the text: This link is placed at a specified location within the text of the webpage.

E-mail: Link to send an email to a specified email address.

Phone: Link to dial a phone number.

Please Note: You must be logged in to the State of Vermont website that you are editing to follow the instructions below. 


URL Hyperlink

Please Note: To add a hyperlink, you must be in the editing window for a 'Basic Page'. 

  1. Select the URL Link Text

    Select the text of your page that you want to make a link.

  2. Link

    Select the 'Link' tool.

  3. Link Type

    Set the 'Link Type' to 'URL'.

  4. URL

    Enter the 'URL' that the link should be directed to when selected.

  5. Target

    Select the 'Target' tab at the top of the 'Link' window.

  6. Specify the Target

    Under the 'Target' dropdown specify the target for the URL. If the 'URL' will link to a different page of the website, leave the 'Target' set to ''. If the 'URL' will link to a page of an external website, set the 'Target' set to 'New Window (_blank)'.

  7. Ok

    Select 'Ok'.

  8. Save

    Select 'Save' on the page that you added the link.

  9. View

    View the page to confirm that the 'URL Hyperlink' appears and functions as intended.


Link to an Anchor in the Text

Please Note: To add a hyperlink, you must be in the editing window for a basic page. 

  1. Select Anchor Link Text

    Select the text of your page that you want to make an anchor link.

  2. Anchor

    Select the 'Achor' tool.

  3. Anchor Name

    Enter a unique 'Achor Name'.

  4. Ok

    Select 'Ok'.

  5. Select Link Text

    Select the text of your page that you want to link to the 'Achor' that you created.

  6. Link

    Select the 'Link' tool.

  7. Link Type

    Set the 'Link Type' to 'Link to anchor in the text'.

  8. By Anchor Name

    Select the 'Achor Name' that you previously created.

  9. Ok

    Select 'Ok'.

  10. Save

    Select 'Save' on the page that you added the link.

  11. View

    View the page to confirm that the 'Link to an anchor in the text' appears and functions as intended.


E-mail Hyperlink

Please Note: To add a hyperlink, you must be in the editing window for a 'Basic Page'. 

  1. Select E-mail Link Text

    Select the text of your page that you want to make a link.

  2. Link

    Select the 'Link' tool.

  3. Link Type

    Set the 'Link Type' to 'E-mail'.

  4. E-mail Address

    Enter the 'E-mail Address' that the link should direct to when selected.

  5. Optional: Message Subject

    Enter the 'Message Subject'.

  6. Optional: Message Body

    Enter the 'Message Body'.

  7. Ok

    Select 'Ok'.

  8. Save

    Select 'Save' on the page that you added the link.

  9. View

    View the page to confirm that the 'Email Hyperlink' appears and functions as intended.


Phone Hyperlink

Please Note: To add a hyperlink, you must be in the editing window for a 'Basic Page'. 

  1. Select Phone Link Text

    Select the text of your page that you want to make a link.

  2. Link

    Select the 'Link' tool.

  3. Link Type

    Set the 'Link Type' to 'Phone'.

  4. Phone number

    Enter the 'Phone number' that the link should dial when selected.

  5. Ok

    Select 'Ok'.

  6. Save

    Select 'Save' on the page that you added the link.

  7. View

    View the page to confirm that the 'Phone' appears and functions as intended.

Below are examples of the four Hyperlink options.

URL: Visit the Chief Marketing Office homepage to learn more about our services.

Link to anchor in the text: Learn more about a URL Hyperlink above.

E-mail: Connect with the Chief Marketing Office over email.

Phone: Call 1-800-VERMONT to receive help planning a visit to the Green Mountain State.
