Images
Images play a vital role in making State of Vermont websites engaging, accessible, and informative. They enhance content by providing visual context, breaking up text, and supporting communication goals.
To maintain consistency and accessibility across all State websites, it's essential to:
- Resize your images externally before importing them into the website.
- Always include descriptive alt text that clearly explains the image's purpose. If the image is decorative, mark it as such.
- Ensure sufficient contrast between text overlay and image backgrounds.
- Follow standard aspect ratios for featured images or thumbnails (e.g., 2:1 for 3-column or 2-column widget images).
Please Note: You must be logged in to the State of Vermont website that you are editing to follow the instructions below.
Images
- Content
Select 'Content' on the top navigation.
- Title
Enter the page 'Title' in the search field to locate the page you would like to edit and add an image to.
- Edit
Once the page you would like to edit appears in the list, select 'Edit' on the right side of the listing.
- Place Your Cursor
Place your cursor in the 'Body' field where you would like to add an image.
- Image
Select the 'Image' button in the editing options.
- Choose File
Select the 'Choose File' button to navigate to the image you would like to insert.
- Open
Select 'Open'.
- Alternative Text
Enter 'Alternative Text'.
- Optional: Align
Select if you would like the image 'Left', 'Center', or 'Right' aligned or leave 'None' selected.
- Optional: Caption
Provide a 'Caption' for your image.
- Save
Select 'Save' to add your image.
- Save
Select 'Save'.
- View
Confirm that the image appears as intended.
