Marketing and Promotional Partnership
The Vermont Marketing and Promotional partnership (M.A.P) is a unique group within Vermont state government formed in 1999 to comply with Act 190’s directive to “coordinate marketing activities within state government.” Original membership included nine state marketing entities. Membership has more than doubled since its creation.
Mission
To communicate the qualities of Vermont and its people, places, services and products for the long term benefit for all Vermonters. We realize the synergies in communicating and achieving savings through operational efficiencies by regularly sharing ideas, information and resources.
Membership, Direction, and Discussions
All divisions, departments or agencies, and quasi-governmental organizations of state government are encouraged to participate. The group, coordinated by the Chief Marketing Officer, meets monthly to discuss ways to continually effect “synergies and savings” through collaborative communication activities. Discussions may include:
- media buys
- promotional activities
- teaming up for generic photo shoots
- collateral design and sponsorships
- special events
- public relations, education, outreach and media relations
- cost sharing between departments.
Communication and Cost-Savings
In addition to initiating significant cost-savings, the M.A.P. partnership has led efforts to leverage the Vermont brand by developing the graphics standards manual for state government, providing input on standards for website design and improved communications practices within state government. By networking among partners, M.A.P. provides a formal mechanism for communications professionals to learn from their peers.
M.A.P. Moving Forward
The M.A.P partnership is continually growing to the benefit of both existing and new members. New members benefit from being connected to their peers and existing members benefit from hearing different approaches to shared challenges.
